It is my pleasure to announce that Tiffany Vazquez is joining the team here at CineJourneys.
She had already been one of our first “Guides” and she led a wonderful presentation about Raúl Juliá. She’s been a friend and sounding board since nearly the beginning, and she has had a close look at our growth. Tiffany has worked at a start-up company before, Giphy, so she has experience in helping take a company to the next level.
Jill and I have complimentary skillsets, and that has helped get us to where we are. Jill is a brilliant writer, editor, and she has a nose for business. She does a lot behind the scenes. I’m also a writer and have some experience with media, and I am more tech oriented and lead development on the website. Tiffany brings skills that we simply don’t have. For example, she was on-air talent at TCM for several years. Jill has also been on the air at TCM, but she worked better behind the scenes. In fact, she worked with Tiffany at TCM. Tiffany is excellent with content, and knows more about GIFs than anyone. I can tell that she thrives on public spaces, and that is apparent with her profile picture where she was introducing a screening at the GIPHY Film Festival. On top of all of her professional skills, she has wonderful taste in film, whether modern, classic, or foreign, or whatever else. We’ve already spent a lot of time talking about film, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Jill and I have been proud that we built this together, as two people. This is the smallest of businesses, and we have such a lovely, positive community that we sometimes pinch ourselves. We’ve been busy, but it’s been a labor of love. We are going from two people to three people, and we can’t think of anyone who fits as well as Tiffany.
Going forward, Tiffany will be a close member of the team. You’ll likely see her where you see me and Jill. She also has plans to lead some of her own topics. We have talked about ideas such as Mira Nair, Spike Lee, and a class about how to make GIFs. She’ll be involved with bringing new people to the platform and facilitating programming. We don’t have anything to announce (yet), but we are hoping to share more about others joining and new programming. Tiffany will have a seat at the table for all of that.
Please give Tiffany a warm welcome, and keep an eye on what’s to come!
